Laurie Lee joins Abundant team as a producer.
Non-directed kidney donor Laurie Lee has joined the team producing Abundant, Maitri River Productions’ documentary series about living kidney donation. Laurie, who is a recognizable personality in the kidney donation field, is a founding member of Transplant Village and facilitates a monthly Kidney Champion Program at Northwestern Medicine.
In 2018 Laurie co-organized the largest-ever gathering of living organ donors in Chicago, Illinois. The event was documented and established the Guinness World Record for the Greatest Number of Living Organ Transplant Donors in 1 place. Laurie participated in Abigail Marsh’s groundbreaking research on non-directed kidney donors and she volunteers tirelessly for living kidney donation.
Laurie brings a motivated energy and entrepreneurial spirit to Abundant’s production team, assuming a role which has direct influence on the production’s content. “Laurie’s experience as a non-directed kidney donor is a must for Abundant,” Executive Producer, Donald Griswold commented. “Abundant’s unique content is based on non-directed donor narratives and research, so it only makes sense that the project’s leadership is guided by a non-directed kidney donor. Laurie Lee was my first choice and I’m thrilled we have her on the production team now!”
Laurie comes aboard the project as Abundant is casting non-directed donors for a live storytelling show which will be prominently featured in Abundant. Donor to Donor presents CrowdSource for Life: Storytellers currently has 49 non-directed donor auditions for the ten open spots in the show. In addition, Abundant’s Non-Directed Donor Research Project Survey has 54 participants signed up thanks to Laurie’s networking. The research project‘s results will be part of the unique non-directed donor content in Abundant.
Welcome to the team, Laurie!
